3.)MOBO, should i get a combo, or buy it seperate. (and what kind of mobo)
4.)RAM, now there is so many different kind of ram like DDR,RD,SD, (i dont know much about RAM so i will need help big time on that too, ill be going for 1gig too.)
5.)i will need a DVD-R and CD-R too but thats easy to get, just have too find a cheap one.
6.)FAN's i know nothing about them but i hear some fans are better than others
7.)moniter, mouse, keyboard, 3.5inchdiisk drive thats easy crap too get
8.)video card is easy one too (ATI RADEON 9700) *im a ATI lover*
9.)a case any good cases on the internet that i could buy?

For camoflague i believe, if they were wearnig one of those shroud things then having the barrel wrapped in the same matrial made it less noticable.

[quote:4e94f]1.) intel or amd, (i have never used or seen a AMD machine so i really need help with this one)!!!!! [/quote:4e94f]
INTEL and AMD are both GREAT products. Some say INTEl is very stable, but pricey, others say AMD is nicely priced but a little buggy. I've NEVER had a problem with my AMD as long as I've got the proper BIOS Drivers.
[quote:4e94f]2.)how fast the cpu should be (like go all out and spend the big bucks on a new 2.8gighz or go for a much cheaper 2.?gighz)[/quote:4e94f]
2 gigs is FINE. If you are gaming its MORE than fine. 2.8 would really be needed if you are running some sort of VIDEO or MUSIC or WHaTEVER editing software. Right now it's MASSiVE overkill.
[quote:4e94f]3.)MOBO, should i get a combo, or buy it seperate. (and what kind of mobo)[/quote:4e94f]
DEFINATELY get a combo. Saves some cash. ASUS, GIGABYTE and SOYO make some damn fine ones.
[quote:4e94f]4.)RAM, now there is so many different kind of ram like DDR,RD,SD, (i dont know much about RAM so i will need help big time on that too, ill be going for 1gig too.)[/quote:4e94f]
One gig is a little excessive, but if you absolutely must, first refer to your MOTHERBOARD and see what type of DDR ram it takes. DDR should be fine for you - 1 gig is again a lil excessive and pricey.
[quote:4e94f]5.)i will need a DVD-R and CD-R too but thats easy to get, just have too find a cheap one.[/quote:4e94f]
Get a DVD-Burner, and a cheap CD-rom reader. No reason to get a DVD burner AND a CD-Burner. CD Burners ARE cheap though, and you can get some nice 16x ones for 60 bucks.
[quote:4e94f]6.)FAN's i know nothing about them but i hear some fans are better than others[/quote:4e94f]
Bleah. If you must, go with VOLCANO fans.
[quote:4e94f]7.)moniter, mouse,keyboard, 3.5inchdiisk drive thats easy crap too get[/quote:4e94f]
Just recycle from old COMPUTER unless you are looking for a better monitor.
[quote:4e94f]8.)video card is easy one too (ATI RADEON 9700) *im a ATI lover*[/quote:4e94f]
Or you could wait for the new NVIDIA chip to drop.
[quote:4e94f]9.)a case any good cases on the internet that i could buy?[/quote:4e94f]
Any case will do, but if you go for clear, shiny covers im sure some websites can get u an ATX or INTEL form factor case.

cpu > I'd go with an AMD Athlon Xp 2800+ It runs at 2.25Ghz but is the equivelant of a pentium 2.8Ghz..it's not out yet though...will be soon
mobo> Abit Nforce2..or the Epox 8k5a3+
ram> I'd get some Samsung DDR PC3500 ram -drools-
fans> this is a toughie...depends on what your going for....I have two 80mm thermaltake fans in the back for exaust, two 80mm themaltake fans on the front for intake, an 80mm enermax fan on the side for intake and one 120mm enermax fan on the top for exaust. I also have a thermaltake crystal orb in place of my motherboard fan and a thermaltake volcano 7+ for my processor heatsink and fan. My case is literally cold to touch but there is a price to pay. it's loud. If you don't plan on overclocking I'd recommend getting some thermaltake smart fans. They're not loud and won't run any faster than they have to. If you really wanna go hardcore and have no noise check out watercooling. You can DIYS or buy a predone case...I'm thinking the thermaltake case looks nice.
http://www.thermaltake.com/products/Aqu ... riusII.htm
cases> thermaltake is coming out with some nice cases...I prefer lian li though. They're a little pricey but they're made out of aluminum so they look good, are light and have great heat dissipation...you could also check out antec and chieftec..they make quality cases as well.
uhmm..if i missed anything let me know and i'll try to help you out. if you need anymore info feel free to reply to this or send me a pm.
edit: make sure you get a good power supply..so many people cheap out on it without realising how important it is...get a brand name PSU (it does matter) and make sure you get at least 450w if not higher.
oh yeah, i recommend Maxtor harddrives. If you get the epox board it comes with RAID so you could get dual 120Gb harddrives and raid them. much much much faster

here is a word of advise: Heat can be a dangerous thing and like "absolute" touched on, a nice cooling system is important for the continous life of your computer. AMD are known to heat faster then INTEL's so I'd recommend getting a few fans, (One in back and one in front will due).

Your not going to need $3000 to ahve a great system.
With $2000 you can have a top of the line system without monitor of course. Lots of money though.
I have enough to probably buy a few computers, but i'm pretty frugal with my money.

Hey ED Since you came out and said that 2 gig processor is more than enough I was wondering where i could be getting some frame lag from in BF1942.
P4 2.0 (northwood)
512 DDR PC 2100
G4 4200 Ti 128 DDR
Im thinking the G4's ram speed is the problem, since its slower than the 64 versions. Just wondering if you had suggestions.

AMD Athlon processor: you can invest a moderate amount in a 2.5ghz, if
such a processor speed exists because your video card will be doing most
of the stuff needed anyway. I would recommend the best motherboard you
can find (check reviews for amd motherboards on the net) because it will
be your computer's backbone. DDR (double density random access mem)
is the way to go: I suggest at least 512 megs; 1024megs (a gig) would be
optimal. Get a CD-RW, obviously, but make sure it has burn-proof tech.
Get a set of extra fans and put them in your box to ensure proper cooling
of your hardware. As for the case, well... just get a big one: your fingers
will thank you for the extra space ;-)
