Upgrade Vid Card -
11-29-2002, 11:45 AM
I have a question for you guys.
My pc: 1.0 g PIII
512 M SDRam
AGP bus (4x, revision 2.0 compliant)
current card: Nvidia TNT2 RIVA 32 Megabit
My question:
With my pc congiguration, I can run a GeForce4 Ti 4400 or 4600.
Will my motherboard/processor be able to keep up with this high end of a card and give me the type of graphics that the card is supposed to produce ??
Thanks !!

Computer was built by Compaq 2years ago. My current power supply is 300 W. I will probably have to upgrade my power supply as well.
I think the mobo is a Socket 370 FC-PGA2 ?? I am not really sure. I went to powerleap.com and analyzed my processor via their online analyzer. Under processor they had an area called package. On the mainboard tab, all it inidcated that the mainboard was manufactured by Compaq, model 06BCh.
I hope that helps. oOo:

I wouldnt go past the GeForce 3 Ti 500, or the RADEON 8500. I'm sure your system could handle your video card, but just for price savings, and also because the P3 probably wouldn't be able to pump out enough power for the card to get it's full potential, but a tad lower card, it would.

Hey Joe,
How about a GeForce4 MX 440. I would not have to up my power supply with that one. It's a step up from the GeForce3. Best part is that the MX440 is <100.00
