Hi, my question may sound stupid but i'm not english or american and i have seen too many times people talking about "1337 players" or something like that....by the context i guessed that it means "an awesome player" but i'm not sure.
Can anybody tell me what does "1337" means and why?

Thanks a lot and sorry if my question sounds silly... eek:

That is some n00bz way of saying Elite that somehow became popular.. I even think that some people think they are elite simply because they know what |337 stands for.. It's silly really..

If you were to hear me say "a l337 player".. I would probably be mocking some idiots "my shit don't stink" attitude or something.

Well, people usually try to feel good about themselves, to they call themselves l33t. Yes, it is quite sad, but some people need a confidence boost.
