for real man you tell 'em...maybe they should have named the town Foy or Bonn or maybe even Bastogne..... A lot of German AND Allied troops died at all of these cities.

Yes. Aachen was another great urban battle involving US and German troops. Even idiots know Stalingrad was in Russia.

I saw this posted in a chat:

http://history.vif2.ru/library/battles/battle1.html

It's a good short read - really gives an idea of how intense everything was.

For me it's a story of my own history because I have ancestors that are from the Volga River region.

Enjoy.

Here's a quote from the story:

"The intensity of fighting can be seen from what one Wehrmacht lieutenant wrote: "We have fought fifteen days for a single house. The front is a corridor between burnt-out rooms; it is the thin ceiling between two floors... From story to story, faces black with sweat, we bombard each other with grenades in the middle of explosions, clouds of dust and smoke, heaps of mortar, floods of blood, fragments of furniture and human beings... The street is no longer measured by metres but by corpses... Stalingrad is no longer a town. By day it is an enormous cloud of burning, blinding smoke; it is a vast furnace lit by the reflection of the flames. And when night arrives, one of those scorching howling bleeding nights, the dogs plunge into the Volga and swim desperately to gain the other bank. The nights of Stalingrad are a terror for them. Animals flee this hell; the hardest stones cannot bear it for long; only men endure."

Don't you 'feel' that in the demo to some degree?

Yes, but Americans didn't fight in Russia.

either the "Mamaev Mound", or the Central Railroad station have to be multiplayer maps for the game, if they arnt we HAVE to make them

imagine fighting in a map that wasnt measured by miles but by feet or yards....
i think if you could pull off that map... and make it lifelife, it would be an instant favorite.

just make sure to disable rockets.

and DAMN i think there should be weapon jamming for the colder maps... have an mp40 jam... im sure it happened alot.

THAT and stuffs...
night sleep thanks

Yes, BUT americans NEVER went to StalinGrad. So in a way, this map that came with the mpd is just for fun, and was not meant to be modeled after stailgrad, if you look at some ingame shots, this same map is a map in a game.
