Default Crab Vs Pipe { : O - 02-16-2003, 02:47 PM

This comes courtesy of Jody Martin (LACM), from a friend of his. Apparently this is video shot from a robotic probe doing work on an undersea pipe.

The enclosed note reads:

[quote:5c009]This is a video taken in 6000 feet of water. An undersea robot is sawing a 3mm wide slit (1/10th of an inch ... remember that width) in a pipeline. The pressure inside the pipeline is 0 psig, while the pressure outside is 2700 psi, or 1.3 tons per square inch. Then a crab comes along....[/quote:5c009]

I figure this is probably not a good sequence to feature in the "Hall of Ocean Life" at the Museum. hake:

i think they have gills, and the gills allow them to live on land but in moist areas only so thats why they're on land

much like those pillbugs

nothing that deep does, that's why their eyes explode from the pressure change when you go deep sea fishing
