2 officers dead, 3 wounded in Louisiana -
02-20-2003, 10:55 PM
This was posted on the Serria community forums:

While CNN and MSNBC have been focused on reporting the major news effecting our world today, Central and Southwest Louisiana residence have been treated to a horrible display of insantity and senseless violence.
The tradegy began around midnight February 19, 2002. Alexandria Police officers responding to what was a false robbery report were ambushed by gunman(s). Twenty shots were fired, but the officer was not hit. He did injure his leg as he attempted to exit his vehicle via the passenger side.
Since then Alexandria Police officers, along with Rapides Parish sheriff had been working hard to apprehend the suspects.
At approximately 1200CST, Alexandria officers responded to a suspecious activity call in a residential area. During that investigation, officers again came under fire. Reports of gunfire was reported by the local media throughout the afternoon. Hospitals reported six officers injured. At around 1530CST, SWAT and Sniper teams emerged from the barricaded area, some crying. Moments later, news came in that one of the officers had died, and five were injured. There was also a plea for "O" Type blood. There is little word on the suspect(s) involved right now. The name of the officer killed and those injured will be with held until tomorrow.
Certainly, this is a great tradegy for the local community and law enforcement in general. As one reporter said, prayers are the best thing people can offer right now, that and blood. Fortunately, alot of people, including officers are apparently lining up to give blood, even though it's been raining all day.

Update
The officers injured were all part of Alexandria Police Department's Special Response Team. They were serving a high risk warrant on a suspect police believed was responsible for the Feb. 19, 2003 ambush of a Alexandria Police officer. The team attempted to make entry at approximately 1200CST. As they did, a single suspect armed with what is believed an AK-47 assault rifle engaged them. One officer died, five others were injured. Lousiana State Police, Rapides Parish Sheriff, along with a number of surrounding area departments responded to the scene.
The local media speculates the today and the Feb 19 shootings were related to an ongoing "war" between Alexandria Police and a local gang-controlled community. Police trying to clean up the neighborhood have apparently met resistance from the community as well as the local gang. This is the bloodiest confrontation so far.
As one local reporter commented, APD officer's on average make around $9.00 per hour. They're clearly not in it for the money. Maybe today will show the local community just the kind of people these gang members are, and unite them behind the officers who are trying to protect the homes.

Update 2
A second officer has died of his injuries. The three remaining officers are listed in fair to good condition.

Criminals are seldom good marksmen, lucky for the public at large.

If we give him the OCG aimbot, he won't ever hit anyone.

People die all the time in Rochester... every fucking day some jealous boy friend murders his whole family. No one seems to care.
People talk about attacking Iraq and killing civilians there. They are people too, don't they deserve some respect?

actually they do deserve it, that's why I'm opting for the good 'ol CIA coup in Iraq, rather than full scale war. But that'll never happen, because of black, slippery stuff which can be refined to make cars go.
