Default RTCW moh realism mod - 02-26-2003, 05:25 AM

Hi,

Because of all the cheating and lack of support we recently moved to RTCW...and created a server that feels alot closer to mohaa, as the original RTCW felt like twitchy arcade rubbish.

We noticed a distinct lack of `realism` mods available for RTCW so we have adapted a current mod to suit.

The servers realism slightly reduces run-speed to remove the `arcade` feel, along with greatly increasing headshot damage so its possible to kill with 2 shots, one to head and say another to chest etc.

Utilising the excellent `shrubmod` Panza/Venoms/Flamers/Mausers have a 2 per team limit as they are now far more formidable, engineers can now set proximity mines, medics can inject lethal injections into enemy players, dead players can be dragged to safety for resusitation along with a host of other extras.

Many thanks to Shrub for his outstanding mod, without it this realism setting would not be available.

The server can be found under the following name:

jolt.co.uk - (09) Realism mod (shrub)

IP = 195.149.21.123:12210

No joke, but this alone makes me want to reinstall RTCW just to check this out. Good work to you prey, and your crew for RTCW, I might just take the offer up for a trial! biggrin:

Yeah I mean think about it...Activision has supported RTCW all the way through.

RTCW uses the `quake` engine just like mohaa so is ultra-smooth, even on low end machines, we run a lag-compensator to help high pingers also. Anyone who`s played wolfy froma mohaa background must know the only bad thing was the arcade gameplay (unrealistic run speeds/ damage etc)

Punkbuster means that there are NO cheats on servers (I know as I frequent cheat sites alot to learn what im up against)

The `Game of the year` edition including their official map-pack was a free download available to existing RTCW owners.

The new expansion which is now completely multi-player (they scrapped the single-player (woohoo) but decided to continue multi for fans) This expansion features a `campaign` mode where from start of game in evening you get chance to gain `ranks` according to your skills, so at the end of 10 maps you might have some special skills etc. This expansion called Enemy Territory is again completely free to game owners and is released in a month, check here...

Activision is the perfect example of how to support a game and its community, EA should take a good look at how a decent company is ran. biggrin:

In case one or two ppl wanna try it out here the new binds to utilise new game features...

All features below require you to pull down `console` and bind keys for ease of use:

Engineers to set next TNT as proximity-mine just type /mine in console or bind it to a key: /bind <key> mine (now its a toggle biggrin: )

To give ammo as non-LTs you can type /giveammo (ammount) ie /giveammo 30 or bind it to a key: /bind <key> giveammo 30 (now when you stand close to a player and point gun at them, so long as you have same weapon you can share your ammo if no LT is available)

To PUSH a player away from you type +salute in console or bind it to a key: /bind <key> salute (Now you can shove door-blockers out of your way or someone whos in your way lol)

To drag an injured player into safety just crouch over them and hold the PUSH button described above, to drag them across the floor so medics can revive out of harms way, useful in non-respawn maps)

Medics can inject lethal injections into any enemy players in the usual fashion, this one is particularly nasty as you will see evil:

You can shoot out/destroy proximity mines with approx 30 bullets or use nades to blow them up, get too close however and you get vaporised lol

A med-pack is the antidote to the horrific lethal-injection which is only way to save an infected victim, only works if prescribed quickly however.

Weapon damage is 65 HP on first head-shot, then 40-50 after that, basically 2 placed shots kill which is fantastic, remember the original setting is this:

First headshot = 5 HP lost Second headshot = 25 HP lost etc etc

So basically in the original lame version you needed upto 5 headshots to kill a medic...ridiculous!

Theres now live-stats after each game so top players are named in the next match warmup.

The main factor is reducing the run-speed of players, it was set to an insane 320 in the original game and this has been reduced to 275, still slightly faster than Mohaa but this was a priority as any slower might have made some wolfy map objectives uncompletable.

There are some `Game of the Year` maps on the server, I think 2 maps, grab that free download at the link provided in previous posts.
