I have a question for any of you in the Southern California/Los Angeles area who have Roadrunner cable. Have you guys been having problems with your connection? Disconnects, slow speeds, etc... I'm just making sure its not just me. Help would be appreciated. tY

Default Try your modem - 03-03-2003, 04:58 PM

Try checking your modem, I had AT&T and I got their shitty modem. I noticed that my ping kept getting slower and slower so one day I said fuck it, went out and bought a kick ass cable modem. Now, my ping is better then when I first Cable.
So, it might be your modem going on the fritz..dunno

Hmm that may just be my problem.

I am also having a problem when I will be playin moh, or just doing whatever and it comes up saying "A network cable is unplugged", yet no one unplugged it.... Anyone have any ideas for this one? I was thinking it might be the router, but I'm not sure.

heh this is so ironic that this thread was made. i am in the midst of my comcast/at&t cable modem crapping out almost every day past 3 pm now for 4 weeks. i do a trace route and ping yahoo.com every day and i get this:

Ping statistics for 216.109.125.69:
Packets: Sent = 50, Received = 50, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 140ms, Maximum = 259ms, Average = 178ms

it starts around hop 4. here is what the brilliant tech rep for comcast told me last night.

T-Justin S says, If you are not currently having the problem, you may want to contact us when you are so we can run some tests and get some information from your end. You can call in at 1-888-262-6300 if you would like to speak with a voice representative.
You say, jesus christ...i just had a problem MAN! didnt you see my results i posted? avg of 179ms ping ....im going crazy here
T-Justin S says, I'm sorry for any confusion but 179ms to yahoo is not an issue
.
You say, i will call from now on...waiting 40 minutes on hold is way more productive than chatting in here to the wind
You say, lol
You say, thats hilarious
You say, its a non issue
T-Justin S says, I'm sorry you feel that way. Have a good evening and thank you for contacting Comcast.
You say, right
You say, later deek
T-Justin S has left this session!
The session has ended!

i kinda lost it there at the end. man these ppl are dumbfucks hake:

Hey DB, n/p man anytime
Yeah I've never had a problem with AT&T before, everytime I call their customer service I've always had really quick responses, and hardly any waiting time. But when I was having trouble with my ping, they said everything was alright at their end so I was just like, fuck it, let me buy a better modem. So I bought a Linkeys and as soon as I hooked that sucker up, it was running 115% better.
In fact, some servers where I was pinging around 50-85, It was lowered to 35-40! Totally badass cool:
