Default Any chance of MOHTV? - 04-01-2003, 07:53 PM

Hey all,

Is there any chance of something like WolfTV and Half-Life TV getting released for MOHAA?

HLTV is the bomb. It records your match, you can join a HLTV server and spec the game like you are watching TV . You also have to have it running wile playing counter strike and other halflife mods in OGL http://www.slipgate.de/hltv/hltv.html

The reason I like MOHAA is because it's nothing like CS, I hope it stays that way.

HLTV, to be more precise, is a very small program that acts as a proxy to your server. It's a separate entity to your server, so it only receives info from it as if it were one client.

You start it up and anything up to 100 clients or more can join and watch your server and not impact on the server's lag whatsoever. It's ideal for spectating matches and you can record in game footage by using the console commands just like on a normal server.

Will this be released for MOH?

Not a chance.

Valve > EA

Yea I agree with Ydiss, EA is shat but Ive asked few others to post this thread elsewhere. I was wondering the possibility of one of these great programmers getting this up and running. I mean for those of you who know more than me, could this be done by an outside source or would EA have to do it directly?

Very unlikely, it would most likely be illegal if it was possible, anyway (unless agreed to by EA, which is unlikely too).

Seeing as it is essentially a modified version of a client of the game it is going to have to be directly produced as a result of the code.

I am not basing this on fact but more on a lack of evidence that it is possible; That is, if it were then similar mods would already have been released.

So far have you actually seen any mod out there that is not just a cosmetic alteration or script variation?

A proxy-based client would require source code I am certain.

Even HLTV was not available for what, 5 years? It took Valve to create that so I am very doubtful that a 3rd party could do the same for MoH.

It's a bloody shame.

Yes it is a shame cry: im upset. But with todays possibilites, I will not doubt the chances, even though it is highly unlikely with EA M16:

What i can't understand is why 2015 opted to leave out standard first person spectating instead of changing it to a third person perspective. From first person it would be a lot easier to pick out hackers. 3rd person is a bit dodgy when it comes to that.

You can actually activate first person spectating in MoH, but it is a server setting and I can't remember the command.

It's a generic Quake console command that was carried over with the engine to MoH.

It's not an on-off option and isn't very obvious. It's simply a point of view command that only affects spectating, and I've never seen it listed anywhere.

I got this info from a mate of mine who found this out but this was in the demo days, so I don't know 100% if it works or not.

He knows what he's talking about though, so I'd vouch that it worked back then.

I'll see if I can find out and I'll definitely post it here.
