I see a lot of PHP-NUKE clan sites and they look amazing. Now I have a general back ground with html, none with php. I did read up on it and got an idea of it. So for starters, I downloaded the php-nuke.zip file and got myself MySQL. but now what.. curious to know how you guys did you learned how to design your PHP-NUKE sites. Trail and error or did you read manuls and tutorials. I'd really like to change my site into a PHP-NUKE site, but have no idea how it works.

dude, it took me 6 hours straight trying to get php and mysql to work on my cpu...but now it does...and im happy...trial and error man, works the best

Your best bet is to rent a MySQL server, then just up the files to the FTP and run the database from the host. That's what most sites do.
