Default Help with making Springfield Crosshairs.. - 04-17-2003, 11:32 PM

Hello... having a bit of a problem. I am making some new crosshairs for a friend, and I was able to make what he asked almost exactly, except for one little part... he wants it red. This is fine for the KAR sniper, it worked first try. But I am having problems with the Springfield. It seems as though no matter what I do, it changes from red to black in-game. I tried a couple different designs with different colors, and have come to the conclusions that either I am doing something different, or it is not possible to make colored crosshairs the way I have been doing it. Now, I know it is possible to do. I have seen several that have coloring, but the only problem is that I have no clue how they did it! mad: I hope this isn't too complicated, because I promised him I would have it for him soon. If you think it's a bit too complicated for little old me ( cool: ) than just say so, I will just give him the Axis one. Any help would be appreciated biggrin:

I have searched around a bit, haven't found any answers... I don't know what to do! And another question, how do people find out how to do this stuff in the first place?!? Like, where do you go to learn how to mod everything eek:

download any old colored allied scope and crack the pk3 open. now compare the pk3 (its not the tga, its in the pk3) to yours. see whats missing in yours? (hint: scripts folder/new_hud.shader)

Ah! I figured it would be a shader of some sort, but I didn't want to say it in case I was completely wrong... but thanks! So... exactly what do I do now oOo:

I'm assuming I can't just move the shader file into mine, right? I mean, obviously I'm gonna try it but I don't have hopes for it working. So, while I'm off fiddling with the shader files, can anyone here help me? If you need to see the scope or anything to know what to do, I'll be glad to supply it.
