Sound Card Trouble

Here is how the story goes:
My sound driver wasn't functioning properly,it would make it so i had to change the settings everytime i would restart, so i decided to reinstall the drivers. So i reinstall the drivers, restart, and find out i have no sound what so ever. I tried reinstalling again, no luck. I downloaded the latest drivers and no luck. So i go in sound devices under control panel. There are four listing for my sound driver. So i looked at the properties of them, 3 of em say that they are enable but inactive do to an unknown problem while the other says enable and functioning properly. Wtf. Please Help

P.S. My sound car is A sound blaster live value

Try deleting all the sound card listings in device manager....and then re-install?

Hmm, I'm not an expert on the drivers listings and stuff, I know it a bit, but try what Ace told you, then take your card out, then put it back in, see if Windows will recognize it as new hardware, might install it with compatible drivers or something. Just my thought. I have an SB Live! 5.1 Value card, and I have never had any trouble with anything, except the Surround Mixer software in XP until I got a new version of it.

1) Add/Remove any drivers for the card in the Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. If it asks you to reboot, don't.

2) Goto the Device Manager (Right-click My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager) and remove any instance of the SB Sound Card. SHUT DOWN the PC.

3) Remove the SB Card, and boot up the PC.

4) Once logged in completly, shut down again.

5) Put the Sound card in a DIFFERENT PCI (Or ISA) slot, reboot

6) Reinstall drivers.
