My father died in his sleep on this date at the age of 83.

He was drafted into the Army in 1941 when he was 21 years old. He rose to the rank of Staff Sargent. His Regiment was the 9th infrantry, his Division was the Second(indian head), He fought in battles from Normandy to Czechoslovakia(including the Battle of the Buldge. He recieved the Bronze Star as well as 5 battle stars that are on his European Campaign Ribbon.
He was proud to serve his country in its time of need. After witnessing the horrors and atroscities of war firsthand, he would not wish the hell of war on anyone.

He requested before his death that we not have military funeral honors at his gravesite, he had never forgiven the VFW for they treated the returning Viet Nam Vets, and could not stomach the present administrations abuse of International law and the US military.
In the end we did allow them to present my mother with a Flag(which we are extremely proud of) and had a trumpeter play taps. My mother is refusing the Presidential Memorial Certificate, she feels that something is that important signed by someone like G. W. Bush would be an insult to my father and everything he believed in.

I miss him, he was a good strong man. If I had half of the wisdom he had I would be a happy man.

Peace.

So sorry to hear that, at least he died happily with his family at home of old age instead of the battlefield.

I remember a month or two ago you were talking about his condition. Sorry to hear the bad news, Sparks. God bless him, and hopefully you're getting through this tough time, man.

I liked your speech up until you started talking about Vietnam/Bush. Leave all that shit out and don't beat a dead fucking horse. I respect your father, in a way, but what is the point of bringing America's dark past and a President you don't like into this? There is no point, except to spread flame. We all know you and your dads political views already, as you have stated them a thousand times.

I feel sorry for your father. Some people can be so ungrateful.

That was uncalled for and in very bad taste. Prick.
