"MoH is average in most respects, mediocre in others except the one place it does shine...graphics. But if eye-candy alone a good game makes we'd all be creaming over CFS2."

Graphics dont equal a great game. Believe me I really really wanted to love this game. I had the same anticipation for Halo but it more than lived up to its hype. I wish that were the case here.

I agree, just because the game includes relatively historically accurate weapons, and some new AI doesn't make the game revolutionary. The game looks amazing, and plays well. There are at least two other WW2 FPS's out there for the PC (RTCW is pretty good except for the undead crap, and I wouldn't mind if the weapons were historically accurate, and also Deadly Dozen which is essentially the same concept as MOHAA, just not as well done).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the game sucks or anything like that. I love the game, it just has some minor issues which would be nice to be seen taken care of in a patch. That said, when is last time anybody here has seen a perfect game without any problems whatsoever, that's what patches are for!!!
To those who flame everybody who finds anything wrong with game:
I work in software Quality Control, and we listen very carefully when our customers find problems with our product. Customer feedback is the only way we can get information regarding what our user base really needs, and wants in out product. Any company that didn't listen to the concerns of their user base would be stupid, and unless they're a monopoly they wouldn't last long enough to matter.

By the way, we don't listen to or read long vicious tirades blasting our product. We look for constructive criticism, not immature oral ejaculation!

I have played thru to the mission that was included on the single player demo and so far its been a fun but rather average ride so far. Not nearly as good or as immersive as I would have thought. Having no cut scenes between missions to advance the story makes the whole game seemed really pasted together. Parts of the game, like riding in the back of the jeep and taking over a machine gun implacement to protect a house were like playing a one of those old arcade shootout games where the little targets pop up and shoot as many as possible. The house one had me almost laughing because you just sit there and wave after wave of moronic nazis keep coming around the corner from each side each side until you have killed 30+!!!!!!
The Omaha beach mission was good but not as good as I had hoped and though tough, it takes very little time. Good but not great by any means but I can forsee playing thru it a few more times. Like I said, I'm not done yet but my impressions are this is only a average fps. In comparison, Halo puts this game to shame in every way possible and was far more innovative.
I only tried MP for a minutes but it seems like it would be fun but I bought the game because the single player game was supposed to be where this game really shined, it just doesnt stand out from any other fps I have played. Bash me if you want, but I have followed this game from the beginning and really wanted to like it but the gameplay just doesnt offer anything new.
I know some people buy into the hype and set expectations so high that no game could possibly be good enough. I however just expected a great fps and instead got a ordinary one. Fun but nothing groundbreaking, that sums it up for me. OK, Go ahead and start cussing me...

I agree with most points you made. Although to just make an "ordinary" fps is no small feat these days ethier. The bar is pretty high, and you can tell somebody poured their soul into the devolopment of MOHAA.

With the number of FPS out there, it's hard to be groundbreaking. They did a good job with difficult material though. So far I love this game, but you are right, it's not revoloutionary. Although I really wasn't expecting it to be so I personally haven't been disappointed with it.
And if you invite people to flame, many will.

Oh no doubt, the recreation of the areas are superbly detailed and feel real and the graphics are also top notch. I am not bashing the game ,I have had fun so far, but I have seen a review or two saying this may be a candidate for game of the year, I wonder if I am playing the same game?? It recreates the WW2 setting better than any other game I have played its just that they obviously focused more on the setting than into the actual gameplay.

Ok it recreates historic weapons and real historical enemies, so friggin what. Just cause they recreated it doesnt mean the game is automatically a gem, cause it not. Gameplay makes or breaks a game no matter what the subject matter is. I have played about every great fps, I love em, and this game does nothing new to stand out from the rest. I will repeat, its a good fun game but no way is it game of the year material, jeez atleast I hope not because that means I am in store for some pretty average gaming on the pc this year.

PC-Gamer have given it a 95% score and are saying it's the best FPS of the last five years bar none. These same pricks gave Il2 89%. Very easy to see the FPS genre bias is alive and well, not to mention taking kick-backs from whoever.

MoH is average in most respects, mediocre in others except the one place it does shine...graphics. But if eye-candy alone a good game makes we'd all be creaming over CFS2.
