That cvar is cheat protected in MP. To use it in SP you have to launch the game w/ +set cheats 1 at the end of the cmd. line.

I would think it would be harder too, but it's there..

I don't know why the development team considered this a cheat, but it is probably for the reason pdiddy2k mentioned.. If you bound 'toggle cg_3rd_person' to a key and adjusted the 3rd person angles, it could be turned on and off easily and used to see around corners w/o revealing yourself.

I enabled cheats through my shortcut but I still get the message about 3rd person being cheat protected. I'm using Version 1.1, any ideas folks? I'd love to fool around with it, but I can't figure it out.

Again, for all those people who tend to not read everything and post info with things I said I've already tried, I'll say a few things again

I already have cheats enabled through my .exe shortcut with +set cheats 1
and
I tried to type cg_3rd_person 1 in my console.
I am using Version 1.1 of the game.
And I got the "Cheat protected" message, please someone help me out

Since when is being able to play in 3rd person a cheat?If anything it would make the game HARDER, NOT EASIER! Obviously you lot dont have a clue what a cheat really is!

Here's a hint: God mode, Unlimited Ammo, All weapons, Restore health! Something that gives you a MAJOR advantage over everyone else! All third person view is, is just that, a view! It DOES NOT prevent you from getting killed, giving you extra ammo, giving you extra guns, giving you extra health etc!
