Default Experienced C++ coder needed for new mod. - 10-18-2004, 01:14 AM

I'm creating a new game using the RTCW:ET engine as a base (because it's free). It a completely different style gameplay, but it's simple to do for any experienced coder. Shouldn't take much more than a week of your time and I could really use the help.

You are making this game by yourself?

It is NOT WW2. It called Mayhem, which is also a pretty good description of the gameplay. I won't tell you exactly what it is, because it would be a very easy idea to steal, but I'll tell you I don't care for games that require 20 - 30 players and tons of teamwork and organization. Games should be fun for 3 - 4 players, too; and that's what's missing from most newer games. We did a simple code test using Q3 (with all stock maps and weapons and ridiculous Q3 speed) and it's still lots of fun. Even a couple dedicated CS players tested it and had a ball. But, RTCW:ET code is much more complex than Q3; because there is lots more code to get rid of to remove the existing gameplay styles.

I started with the intention of doing everything by myself. It isn't a huge game, only 8 small to medium sized maps (4- 16 player max), it's multi-player only and the gameplay is quite simple. I figured doing everything by myself, I could get it done in about 1 1/2 years. Since RTCW:ET is a free game, I think it will be around for a while.

I've had to reevaluate that idea. I don't have the expertise needed in C++. Plus, a number of other people want to participate, although at this time all I've asked for is a C++ coder. The code has got to work (using the stock game settings and weapons) before I'll be looking to add any other team members.
