Default More PC Help (Sound Card) - 01-28-2005, 08:22 PM

Okay, so. My computer came with a Soundblaster Live! stock.

Then, after I got the computer, I installed an Audigy2 ZS.

The problem I am having is that I can't get the 5.1 to work on my PC. Why? Well, it seems that they share drivers and the computer can't discern between the two cards. When I do the test from the Creative software panel the test sounds play through my headphones which are hooked up to the Live! card instead of the speakers which are hooked up to the Audigy card. I checked my sound settings through the Windows control panel and the computer is set to use the Audigy card.

Any ideas?

You've got this set correctly, right?

if one of them is a onboard card, you have to disable it in the bios i believe

It's not an onboard card. I've always used two separate sound cards.

I use the cheaper one for my gaming headsets and the nice one for my surround sound system and my high quality headphones.

I've never had a problem before, but I've always had two different brands. (i.e., Turtle Beach and Creative).

I e-mailed tech support.. don't know what else to do.

Creative has the shittiest drivers ever. Good luck with solving your problem. Tech support will probably tell you to buy another Creative.

happy:

If I were you Noctis I'd uninstall both cards and the drivers, and then reinstall the ZS on it's own.

I know this wont help, and will just make you frustrated, but I cant understand why you decided to post this question here and not customer service, or some geek-site, like http://www.planethardware.com (or hardwareplanet.com) if thats still alive..the forum community definently was, I know that for sure.

This is amusingly relevant.

The problem is that Creative releases drivers which apply to nearly all of their products and they don't build in any way for the computer to differentiate between two cards.

The guy finally e-mailed me back and told me to uninstall both and re-install the one I want oOo:

I told him to feck off. I screwed around for hours last night and finally got it working by changing some settings in EAX. wtfever...
