Default Walk for Cancer event, Sunday May 15th 2005 - 04-18-2005, 11:35 AM

My Fiance' is participating in the Lowell Mass. General TeamWalk for CancerCare 2005 event on Sunday, May 15, 2005. Her goal is to raise as much as we can, if you'd like to donate as a little as $5 please follow the link in the quote. Thanks in advance for any support you give.

[quote:f3ca4]This year I will be participating in the Lowell General TeamWalk for CancerCare 2005 event on Sunday, May 15, 2005. This Walk raises money for the Patient Services Fund and the CancerCare Endowment Fund, both of which were established to assist cancer patients and their families in the greater Lowell area during these challenging times.

The Patient Service Fund and Cancer Care Endowment Fund were designed to provide patients and their families with support services to help them cope with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. These include complementary therapy, prescription drugs, prostheses, wigs and transportation to and from treatments – all things that greatly improve the quality of life of patients, but often are not covered by insurance.

Each one of us has a story to tell and a voice to be heard. Please consider making a donation to TeamWalk for CancerCare 2005.

Thank you for your consideration,

P.S. If you are interested in participating as a walker or volunteer, just let me know! Or you can log onto http://teamwalk2005.kintera.org

I volunteered to help with that last year. It was all rainy but it was still sweet. I directed the walkers to go a certain way that led them to Cobblestones so they could continue the walk. Good times. This year it's a day after my birthday. I should sign up again. It's for a good cause and it gives me community service hours.

we did this for the american cancer society last year both my grand fathers and my wifes grandfather died from cancer so it was pretty important. Good things they do.

... dunno how i feel about this ... how many years have people been pouring money into these things without any advancements in cancer treatements ? i have had a few family members die of cancer too, but forking over money for research without seeing any results in years is kind of pointless.

maybe if they stick the money into accounts for people who need cancer treatment but cant afford it ...

It can take decades to develop a medication, and even after its out of development it needs to go through testing phases.
