Its an ad for my schools graphic design club. Its supposed to be simple and straightforward. Also there gonna be printed in black and white which explains the lack of color. Any suggestions?

If it's gonna be printed, lose or reduce the drop shadowing. It doesn't translate well to printed media.

The Arial font is kinda boring, but it's ok. Try a Gill Sans or something like that. What's the significance of the paw print?

Otherwise, it's pretty good!

yup, i was gonna say the same about the drop shadow on the text ... you should lose the effects on the text so that it flows with the rest... plus , i just think text effects look nub. nice, clean, bold fonts reflects professionalism imo.

i think the font works in this case. it looks like and insert into a catalog, which is probably similar to what you were going for. you could try a few others, but i think youll be in good shape if you lose the effects.

you might also consider trying some color...

I think it's supposed to be B&W, though.

Oh, and I think the comma after "as" should be a colon...not 100% sure on the grammar.

Thanks for the suggestions. The paw print is because our school mascot is a bearcat and i needed a space filler, if you have any suggestions for that id appreciate it. Also Judas it has to be black and white.

Gramatically, yes put a colon, however, for all intensive purposes use 3 periods.

Lose the dropshadow, center it properly (look at the heading "bing hampon university" etc in relation to the text below it)....Also, like zone said, Arial is really boring. I'd go with Futura, or Avant Garde or something like that - Definitely a sans serif font though as it suits what you've already done.

There should also be a space between "New union" and the following bracket....The typeface size heirachy is spot on though - and overall looks like it fits it's purpose.

One thing i have learned about print in college in my first 3 weeks alone is make sure you make it in 300 to 600dpi for the best qaulity (how big is this going to be)
