Default Alpine set up - 02-07-2006, 07:51 AM

Ok guys, if any of you guys checked my mom just got a 98' Explorer

i have alpine subs, and they were cheap and hit hard so i am wanting to do an all Alpine set up in her truck

this isn't going to be a comp system

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-3LcCaiWB3N ... &id=review
Deck

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-3LcCaiWB3N ... RPM350#Tab
Amp

the subs is one thing that iam looking at-
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-3LcCaiWB3N ... E1042&pg=3

i have the 12's and i could't be more happier with them that's why iam leaning towards alpine so much

but these infinity's look good too
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-3LcCaiWB3N ... I=1081042W

or this one

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-3LcCaiWB3N ... I=1081040W

If i were to go with infitity should i get the duel 4 ohm or just the 4 ohm -

I have Infinity 6x9's in my ho for about 2 months, off the stock radio and it made my rearview mirror rattle, then the speakers started to die one was cracking all the time, not sure if it was the wires or the subs but i brought them back

but when they worked i was very pleased with them

what's the better brand? should i give up this alpine crusade???

anyways i don't want to spend 4k on a system for the mom's i just want some thump

:beerchug: Thanks Guys :beerchug:

Why would you spend more than $200 to put a system in a '98 ranger. No offense.

maybe because he goes on journeys and wants to actually listen to his music with a decent sound system. $200 isnt much for a sound system in a car, mines cost me about that so far and am looking to get some new speakers sometime soon.

I bought my sub a month ago, and its still sitting in my boot half wired up. I cant figure that shit out. So i'm going to go get it fitted for me cause im a lazy ass to figure it out myself.

What type of music you listen to. Dance and fast beat music its recommended to get a 10" loud slow beats for R&B etc its recommended to get a 15"+ You might want to look at a 12" sub - its supposed to be a good compromise for different types of music.

I would definately not go with the alpine. lower grade alpine is not worth it at all. go with the infinity and try spendin more money on an amp that will power them fully and those infinitys will do some damage. my friend has two of them and they will hit HARD.

Elite, do not listhen to Jonsey unless you want a shitty system. .

I am competing in SQ this season, and hoping to take home some awards. (SQ is sound qaulity). Your best bet is to save up and go for the CDA 9847, and possibly the 9851 or 3. Why ? to simply put it any Alpine Deck below the 9847 will perform pretty much identical to other name brands such as Pioneer Premier, or JVC Arsenal stuff. AS for the type E woofer, If sounds extremely good. Sealed, or in a decent 6th order bandpass and you are looking @ some great sound. NOT some mind blowing SPL, but a very good expeirence. I will grab pics of my system in a bit and show you.

MY recommendations ?

CDA 9847
Alpine SWS-1242D (type S)
and
Sealed enclosure while feading that sub 200RMS @4ohms to 400RMS @ 4 ohms

The type E will do it, but you will be wanting more in the future. AVOID infinity products, in the last 2 years they have taken a dive. The days of Kappa are over for them. They are just naother Cookie Cutter box store band now. (Still decent, but not competitive).

a single 12 in a sealed enclosure takes up next to no room. Your hunting gear will be fine.

short, thanks for that post buddy

i already have a ported box for the subs got it off ebay for like 50 bucks

pic 1 -

and then this one -

the ports look to long and might hit the subs / or the subs might hit it while thumping and could tear the cone, so i am thinkinga bout pulling them out and cutting them down a bit so that there won't be any worries

Edit : crutchfield doesn't have that deck short!!! what will i do?????!!!
