I hate EA but Battlefield is my kinda game, so I think this looks alright, although it looks to be the same engine, basically just a mod....

BTW i posted it weeks ago in another thread but you people seen EA's game called Spore?

looks damn nice, type spore into youtube

spore looks like it'll be an incredibly new and amazing type of game, but it just seems like it would be too monotonous for my liking.

The real question about BF2142 is whether or not they will provide buggy-like vehicles and explosives for suicide bomber attacks...

So soon after BF2... Its rushed out the door. Expect bugs out the ass, exploits overlooked that were beyond obvious. Balence that doesnt exsist, and weapon statisitcs that boggle the mind (IE damage).

[quote:59f0c]DICE announces 2142!

The fight for survival takes place the year 2142. Sweden’s largest game developer Digital Illusions is developing a new title in the award-winning battlefield series: Battlefield 2142 for the PC platform. The awaited game is planned to launch all over the world during the fall of 2006. The publisher is Electronic Arts.

In the middle of October 2005 Digital Illusions made a deal about a PC-game in the shooter genre that's being announced. Battlefield 2142 the PC-game is built on the same engine as Battlefield 2 and is being developed on the companies Stockholm office. The game is a stand alone product and is based on Digital Illusions own trademark.

- Battlefield has been known for it's innovative and first-class multiplayer action. Now we are taking the step into the future, says Marcus Nilsson, senior producer at Digital Illusions.

The story of the new product takes place in the future. In Battlefield 2142 the players are forced to choose between two military superpowers in a decisive battle for survival. In the year 2142 a new ice age has crippled large parts of the earth and the world powers are gathering their strength. Up to 64 players can play against each other in two teams. When the players progresses he will get promotions and awards in form of new weapons, medals and much more.

Electronic Arts is publishing and distributing Battlefield 2142. The launch is planned on the fall of 2006.

Features

* More details are expected to be revealed at BF-CON (April 28-30, 2006) and E3 (May 2006).
* Uses the same core engine as Battlefield 2, with improved visual and physics engines.
* Thanks to this, more time can be spent developing new weapons, vehicles, maps, etc..
* Maps can provide ideal vehicle-to-player ratios.
* More work has also been put into ensuring the game is balanced at release
* Uses a similar squad system to that of Battlefield 2, but improved - for example squad leaders can now deploy a beacon which their squad-mates can spawn from, even if the leader dies
* Parachutes are no-longer issued to troops - replacement is currently unknown
* Grappling hooks and night vision (á la BF2: Special Forces) may be included - undecided
* Expected to contain a new commander system, co-op mode (for teaming up against AI opponents) and possibly even an entirely new game-mode for the Battlefield series

Maps

* Brand new locations and scenarios - set in the year 2142.
* Most of the maps are based in North Africa (since this is where most of the remaining land is)

Teams and Classes

* Players can play as the "American-European Alliance" (Continental America and most of Europe) or "Pan Asian Coalition" (made up of Russia, Middle East, India).
* No Far East countries - possible add-on in the future?

Vehicles

* Heavily influenced by futuristic sci-fi movies, such as Aliens.
* Similar mix of vehicles as in previous Battlefield titles (tanks, APCs, transport, etc.), but with the addition of Mechs.
* Mechs are armed with an anti-aircraft gun, TOW anti-tank rocket launchers, and anti-infrantry mini-guns on each arm
* Other vehicles will be given more powerful weaponry to balance this out, such as EMP
* Helicopters are replaced by blade-less hovering ships
* Fighter jets are to be included, but details aren't yet known

Weapons

* Although futuristic-looking, still based on current weapon technology on the whole (ordinary bullets).
* EMP grenades to scramble vehicles' vision and reduce their speed
* Number of new mines to use: Chaser (anti-tank)
* Artillery will still be included

this looks like a mod(and should be one instead of a whole new game), in one of those screenshots one of the soldiers is carrying a c4-detonation thing very similar to the one in bf2 eek:

Yeah but think this is way better quality than any old mod could do unless you spent forever making it. oOo:
