Default Connection problem - 04-05-2006, 02:54 PM

Ok, so recently (this week) I started getting kicked from bf2 servers for having a high ping. I ran spyware scans and all that, and they found nothing, but my connection has been noticeably slower recently and my ping will be low when I join the game, but then skyrocket after a round and a half to like 400 or higher. I haven't changed anything with my connection, is there anything that could be causing the recent slowdown?

I'm on my university network, I think its T1, I'm not really sure, but it's never been an issue before now, I've played for a long time without this problem.

It possibly could be a utilisation issue on the network but I doubt it
Do you ping directly to the server or try other pings such as sites etc
If not try it if the pings to say http://www.google.com are ok then do a tracert
to the server and see what hop it fails/goes high on.
Also checking for spyware is a good idea but not foolproof. There are a lot of reasons your networking settings can change P2P for example.
Also be aware that as far as I know BF2 measures ping on UDP packets
not TCP so again if your ping in windows goes ok to the server it could be your game installation causing you grief.
