I have been to Omaha beach too, it gave me butterflies in my stomache just seeing it, just the scenes thru SPR running thru my head picturing soldiers running up getting wasted by mg42 fire.
I'm really looking forward to go to juno beach (not sure when im gonna go), but to see the great beach that the canadians took .

My father was in WWII saw a lot of his freinds and comrades die. Id go thru Omaha beach few days after D-DAY they were still cleaning up. He said the there were body bags everywhere, they still fishing bodies out of the water, and finding body parts. He said it was like and organized hell. Later in the war Is platoon came upon one of the death camps after it had been liberated.(not sure which one), he said there was still a stench in the air. But he his thought was with his buddies who had died, because he believed(and still does)
that they did not die in vain and the world will be a better place because of their sacrifice.

I'm trying to get out to see Juno and Dieppe as well as Vimy and Calais this summer. Can't wait to show my son these places. Escpecially Juno, I've a pretty good idea approxiamately where my grandfather came ashore, and it'd be cool to be standing where he was and looking up that same beach 58 yrs later.

Hi!
I have been last summer to Normandy.
Have seen Omaha beach, Juno Beach, ...
Have walked in St. Lo and Ouistreham.
Have visited the "Musée du débarquement".
Have been/visited the American War Cimetery at Colleville.
I have never been a "USA-fan" nor a "pro-US army"-guy.
But when I was at Colleville, in front of 10,000 white tombs, I have had a strange feeling. I can't describe it.
All I want to say is that I have a great respect for those soldiers.
Of course MOHAA is just a game, but behind it, there is a huge historical event.
It's not Quake, where a Red Goblin fire a protonic-plasma missile on a Yellow Orc-Warrior...
Behind MOHAA there are facts, real military operations, ... in a word : HISTORY
That's why I like Medal of Honor. Hope it will stay "historical" and accurate.

Stylin Trix,
Meaningless ... ?
A- cause you don't understand it.
B- cause you think that talking about Omaha is not important.
if A : sorry, my english is not perfect. I will try to explain this if you don't understand what I mean. And once again, it IS important for me.
if B : you are a child. A stupid child.

sgt.sayian and Low spark,
thank you for your replies.
I understand you feelings cause have had the sames. WWII is often our fathers or grand fathers history : it is not so far away in time.
Omaha Beach is just an example, and there are hundreds of Omaha Beaches during WWII.
(for Finland, for example, the Winter War against Russians (1939) was bloody.)
I like MOHAA and play with MOHAA like a WWII simulator, an action oriented simulator. But I respect, I MUST RESPECT, the events described in MOHAA.
I have played a lot of WWII wargames, simulators ...
But it is the first time I have really this feeling. Perhaps MOHAA is too close to reality.
MOHAA is a game. WWII is not.
Just my humble opinion.

For those whom are planning to visit, how are you planning/organizing your trips? Through an agency? Wondering...
I sure would like to go see it some day. Probably have to wait till I'm 50 (now mid 20).

I don't think that you can choose "Omaha Beach" with an agency.
From the States or Canada, the easiest way would probably be :
1- go to Paris, by plane.
2- by train, go to Normandy (under 200km).
but it depends of what you want to do, to see, and how long you think you will stay in France.
IMO, Omaha Beach is interesting, but only 1 day (may be 2 max) is required for visiting it + the museum + other "Overlord sites" on the coast.

Now that I've played this game, I can't wait to see the place that a bunch of my family fought and lived against the NAZI. Yes, I was luckey enough to have a family that lived through the landing.

Thank you 8827Echo.
Ahgharion,
Omaha is a cold and windy beach...
All bunkers and bomb craters are untouched since 1944.
From the outside, bunkers seem to have suffered a bit, but from the inside, all is like in the game.
