Default what's it like around where you live? - 07-24-2006, 09:19 AM

around here, it's pretty quiet, but they're building more and more and slowly enlarging small towns and our cities like Raleigh. my grandma worked at a tobacco warehouse and i spent a lot of time around there when i was little, and nothing smells as good as a tobacco warehouse before auctions. but back in the old days, the school system revolved around the tobacco seasons, like school would come back labor day i think, because all the kids were working on their respective farms or helping out, when now, i tried to get a job over the summer working on a tobacco farm, and they wont hire because summer vacation is only 2.5 months and all the mexicans are working at the farms so who needs a highschooler who wont be there as long? anyway, what's it like where you live?

one of the fastest growing cities in north america. in the middle of a huge economic boom due to the oil industry. no houses for sale, and prices have doubled in a year, not enough labour. shit jobs like mcdonalds pay $10 starting because of the lack of workers. beautiful 30 degrees, CFL season and NHL is just around the corner.

pittsburgh is kind of dirty and a smaller sized city filled with people that cant figure out whether to cop an east coast attitude or succumb to their mid-western redneck tendencies. however, for all that there is to complain about, pittsburgh has an inviting and pleasant feeling to it, the nightlife is great as there are 3 big colleges (pitt, carnegie mellon and duquesne), and the city can be beautiful on the rare occasion that its nice out.

philly is different, the weather is usually a lot nicer, the city sprawls out a lot farther and the suburbs are filled with rich assholes. during the summer, going to the jersey shore is the weekend routine, youll never see an ass in pgh as sexy as the ones in philly, the weed is better also. the people are a mix between jews or rich wasps, filthy yard apes and vile jersey trash, so they arent much better.

the classic suburbia with a good school system and houses that are beginning to cost way more than they should. there is nothing for teenagers to do around here, so they either bike or skate and loiter around parking lots. lots of drugs and alcohol around my town too, but i dont touch that shit. cranford was voted one of the top 100 towns to live in NJ, but I dont think thats saying much.

Shit jobs like mcdonalds pay $10 starting because of the lack of workers. real estate market booming, literitly thousands of houses being built, hot as fuck, (42 yesterday), lots of fuckin homeless people that coming up from Kelowna because they actualy did something about them. But i gotta World class ski resort like 20 minutes and lots of awesome beaches just down the road.

I fucking love Denver. Pretty big city, but not too big...but its about 4 mil.
Downtown scene is awesome, and off to the west you can see the fucking mountains. Lot of history here... plus weve got the best fucking hockey team. (well they used to be before Bourque retired.)

Ottawa =

- approx. 1.5 mil (surrounding communities included)
- government town
- ethnically diverse
- mostly bilingual (French/English)
- awesome regular season hockey team
- great nightlife (believe it or not)
- clean, except for a few spots (Vanier, I'm looking at you)
- cold as fuck winters with medium snowfall.
- summers are hot as balls (+30C most of June - August)

hot as fuck this past weekend when it reached a bit past 100 F. rolling blackouts, forest fires and traffic jams are rampant over here. houses are way overpriced over here. still, i'd rather live here than anywhere else. i love my job, they pay me well, and the Fall semester starts in a few weeks. it rained yesterday morning but the air was still hot oOo: alot of new cookie cutter homes are being built in the neighboring cities of fullerton, la habra and anaheim hills. A/C's are the hot item being sold everywhere and all the small 5500 BTU units are being sold before i step my foot into the stores.
