Default truck - 07-10-2007, 05:55 PM

i'm thinking of buying a truck. i really want a 1995-1997 nissan hardbody pickup. anyone know anything about this truck? i see several for sale in my area, and i know a guy who is a supervisor in a meter reading company, and he's incharge of 20+ of these type of trucks and they're selling them off. they're well maintained, but they have hard milage since they do a lot of stop-and-go driving, not really highway milage. they're really reliable from what i've read, but does anyone have any experience with these?

I just got an 03 S-10 about 6 months ago and enjoy it so far. It's only got a 4 cylinder so that kind of annoys me, but overall a pretty good truck, especially gas wise. The problem with buying fleet trucks is , like you said, they're hard drivin'. Those and the fact that they're pretty standard in the way they don't have radio, cruise control, etc..

Honestly though, I wouldn't go with any truck that's over ten years old like you're looking for. I'd look for something in the 99-04 range. Should be able to find a nice truck for a good price in those years.

To start, I've got no experience with that model truck.

What are you looking to do with the truck, have it be a daily driver, use it on the weekends for misc stuff, use it for work, etc...?

because i have a chance to get it at a really nice price, and i've heard good things from them, but wanted to know if they're well-founded claims. i just mentioned also because those are the year models the guy is in charge of.

i'd use it for general driving, but hauling pinestraw, lumber and other random stuff like that. mostly a good driving vehicle that is capable of hauling stuff. i had to move my grandma's stuff from one house to her new one in my 97 civic. it sucked because half the boxes fit and i couldn't hardly see out of it when it was full.
