Default Server setup & gamespy listing - 08-14-2002, 12:00 PM

How long does is usually take for a running server to appear in gamespy/v1.11 server listing?

I ran a server tonight as a test with the .cfg copied from Bull's guide (inluding gamespy 1) and the thing didnt appear... shut it off after 10 mins.

Gamespy and MoH have full TCP/UDP permissions for all ports and all remoted addresses in my firewall.

Can't think of anything else I missed.

yeah i have the same problem, except i tried it with my own .cfg file, and the server still doesn't show. i'm gonna try to see if my friend can hook up to it via ip address and then perhaps it's just a gamespy problem...

but anyone got any ideas as how to fix this?

Certain people can't host games because they have a firewall or whatever. I can only host LAN games...

bigzooka: cool:

As i said both gamespy and MoH have full permissions in my firewall and pings in and out are both permitted.

hey i served once and people came in... i asked them, and they said they saw it through gamespy.

are you checking it through computers in your LAN? that's what I did, and i wouldn't see it with their computers. i think that's what it is. if it's at home, it's a LAN connection, not an internet server... ?

not sure, don't quote me on that.

Hello,

Try this in your server config file at the end if you dont already have it there.

set sv_gamespy 1

net_gamespy_port 12300

net_port 12203

net_ip (your ip from the ISP here, not your NAT ip from the Router)

This did the trick for me and it shows up in Gamespy almost immediately.

Hope this helps.

Hello all. One thing to keep in mind for you guys trying to setup dedicated servers is that you wont be able to see the game on GameSpy from a computer that is on the same Lan . Most people today have some sort of connection sharing at home (Lan), if thats your case then you wont see it on Game Spy. You can still connect to it and your friends should be able to see it. Have one of your frinds try to see it and connect to it.
There are some glitches with GameSpy also. I have a server up everyday, there have been occasions when my server wont show at all or I can see it and my friend in another city/state cant see it at all.
Also, when you start a server it will ussually show within seconds on GameSpy.
