Default New TANK map - Under Development - 08-30-2002, 04:27 PM

Hi all,

Long time no speak

Anyway you'll all be pleased (i hope) to hear that i've been busily working on a new tank map ... in co-operation with Small Sumo and Wombat.

Map is based in a snowy town. There are AI in the map (cool), and allies and axis have 1 tank each. Mission is to either destroy or capture the enemy tank to win. You get 10 mins and there is no-respawning.

Tank New features:

Bomb attached to back of tank so engine can be disabled.
Tank slows down the more damage it takes
Tank Commander can call up a vehicle status overlay as he drives around.
Tank clipping working better.
Various other improvments to my first tank scripts.

I've also got get in/out in/out working for Jeeps and Trucks, but the darn tanks are a real pain, coz when you get out the damn turret leaves the tank at the same time ! lol ... sure i'll fix this problem in time.

I dont know when the new map will be out, coz i've got to speak to Wombat and SmallSumo 1st to discuss it.

And i've just finished the 2nd beta of the tank scripts, they are cool.

I've also done a new version of the 3D BSP Viewer, it now exports all the triggers etc, which is great, and interesting to see how EA/2015 triggered all the events in the SP maps.

Not being able to get out of the tanks has been a real pain ...

but good news !

at 1:15a.m. and about to go to bed, i had one last stab at it ...

and yes IVE DONE IT !!! bloody cool.

a quick test of getting in/out in/out 4 times on the trot has worked 100%

Going off for ZZZzzz... now, but i'll test it properly tomorrow morning and let u all know what happens.

Night ... (yawn)

Hey guys Small_Sumo here perhaps you'd like to see some pics of the snowy map made by the 3 headed monster.
Also in a gimmiky way at my site you can go to the forum and name the map and win . Yay, well its not an x-box but it will be a spot in the map with a pic of yours and a "map named by ....." writen in it . So if you would like this then come join in the fun at http://www.smallsumo.com . Hopefully it wont be long now and you guys will be able to give it a test run.
Also, and scorpio doesnt know this yet but I may include an extra level of his with all his additional vehecles, like he does.
Thing is with a big project like this with 3 guys working together is not getting in each others way and for the end product to be truly a part of each of us.
More news soon .

Nice screen shots m8, we need to get some of the tanks in action !

I've finished my testing this morning and the get in/out code is working fine.

Just got to catch up with SmallSumo and Wombat to decide when we are going to run a mp test on the map.

well this is great news, as the tank map had great potential but too many bugs, and no real obj w/ a small map, but this is a great idea, this I have a fealing will be one of my top 10 maps, if all goes as planned.

thanks

Another screen shot, this time it's an overhead, just after an axis victory, check out that smoking allied tank ... heap of junk ! lol

Just adding in some new code.

If you press USE while in the tank it will display a damage report.

If you hold USE down for more than 0.5 seconds it will let you exit the tank.

On exiting the tank, you get to take an extra weapon and some ammo , nice
