Default lets talk about guns! - 09-04-2002, 08:18 AM

Do you like to shoot? Does your country allow you to own guns? I love to shoot and do when ever I can! Going out this weekend to burn up about 1000 rounds Yeeeee Haaaaa!!!!!!!!!!! Started when I was about 10 joined a rifle team and was a marksman at age 12! Just bought a Chinese SKS 7.62x39 in great shape. That will be the main weapon this weekend. I also have a few pistols .25 cal, .40 cal M16: semi auto and a .44 mag

I've never shot anything more powerful than a pellet gun. I'm sure it's fun, though. freak:

Not that I have any moral objection to shooting. I think it's a cool sport if its kept in a controlled environment (Read: rifle range, not elementary school).

Fire away! fire2:

i prefer national forest over shooting range angel: i'm not too sure the wandering cows do tho, going to buy a garand in december i think once i get enough money, current posessions include AR-15, ruger blackhawk, mossberg mariner i forget the model #, S&W 645 i believe, and some semi-auto .22 that reminds me of a garand biggrin: got a .38 around here somewhere too but haven't used it.

How much would a garand cost, Strik0r? I assume it would be vintage....do they make 'em new anymore?

I'm currently reading "Dreamcatcher" by Stephen King and the guys in the book use garands to hunt deer. I found that surprising.

$500 for what is called a "remake" which is something like a base garand with the parts replaced at a later date, i forget exactly how it goes it's been awhile since it was explained to me.

shooting is fun,
I wouldn't hunt unless I had to for food or safety (safety=shoot charging grizzly)
I don't want to mess with dead deer and stuff after I shoot 'em, so I just won't shoot them.

I looked at a garand before I bought the SKS. If you are in Michigan go to Guns Galore in Fenton, great prices and many garands in stock. Try layaway it is less of a hit in the pocketbook.

I love shooting, mostly (but not limited to) shotguns - skeet, ducks, geese, etc.

Springfield armoury has new m1 garandes and carbines. they run in excess of $1k US. Very nice guns though. I would like to have one, myself.
