I voted for the shotgun.
I assume everyone would vote for the Bazooka, ( sorry joe )
But I feel with CRK or DOA's mods does a good job at making those two weapons used as a last resort. The Bazooka is a good weapon when the other team controls coke point and you need to break through. Where the Shotgun does not help you in any situations other then very close combat. and like I said, the realism mods do a fine job at discouraging it from being used.
So I say shotgun..
Please remember that the aa.com game server allows any weapon, You can get into more trouble on my server for complaining about someone using a certain weapon then actually using said weapon.
good pole btw

Yeah, SG. I can't imagine in WWII it being used, although I'm sure it's possible it was used every once in a while. Besides that, like Rude says, unless you're always in CQB, then it's worthless (unless you play without realism, but I can't play anything else now... Thanks, Rude biggrin: )

Definately the stg. I never realized how annoying it was, because I always played with the mp40. Its not that one or two are that bad, but 3/4 of the axis team always seems to have one. It just makes playing allies so one dimensional.

shotguns were used in WW2 just not as frequently as everything else for obvious reasons

As Srik0r said, they were in fact used, but in all the classes I've taken, movies I've seen, and books I've read, I haven't heard one instance of anyone in WWII using a shotty. Get rid of ze bastard!

Everyone, PLEASE stop using realism (the concept, not the mod) to justify ANYTHING in this game. If you dont like how a weapon behaves, say so. If you are skeered, say so, but using realistic behaviors to justify that something has no place in an arguement about a game that lets you do many, many unrealistic things. Thats just plain hippocritical.

Perhaps, but I think the true lure of this game for me was that it was as close to WWII as anything I had seen in a 1st-person shooter. So I personally wouldn't mind seeing more and more realism added. I think for the purpose of making it possible for 1 person to survive ALL these different missions you'd have to give realism a slight twist. But when we're playing TDM or OBJ with 10-20 other people you'd like to see that realism closer to what's actually real. For me the object in playing would be a sense of almost being there.
So when a question comes out about taking a weapon out, I'd have to say take the one that makes least sense in a battlefield. You know what I'd like to see, though - bayonettes (sp?). That aught to make the mauser a little more interesting. evil:

The Shotgun in MoH:AA is a Winchester Model 12 Pump Action Trench Gun. They were used in WWII but mainly in the PTO, as they make a formidable close range weapon. Perhaps some were used in the ETO, but I can't find any definate proof.

That makes sense, PH is a US base, I believe that shotguns were issued on friendly bases for security and policing purposes, the Marines used them in the PTO to clear caves and tunnels.
