Default Multiplayer features in Spearhead? - 09-30-2002, 01:23 AM

I love MOH online, but lately I'm getting really bored of it.

Apart from the map additions, what else is there in the multiplayer aspect of Spearhead that warrants me shelling out for it?

I'm not too bothered about the SP...

There's sopposed to be a new gamemode involved. Forgot the exact title, but here's what IGN.COM said

[quote:ffbef]So far, the sequences and levels we've played emphasize the squad-oriented, single-player approach of the previous game (and echoed in titles like HALO). You're expected to handle the brunt of the action yourself, but a few soldiers by your side help cover all the angles and even launch into pre-scripted attacks and maneuvers on their own.

The expansion features nine new levels, three in each of three locations. Starting in June of 1944, the first of these concerns the landing in Normandy. It seems everyone's doing a D-Day level now, but Spearhead just doesn't recreate the content from Allied Assault. Instead of storming ashore as in the previous game, this time you'll be dropping behind enemy lines the evening before the invasion. Your job is to disrupt German defenses and give the boys a fighting chance come morning.

Along with the addition of the single player portion of the game comes an upgraded multiplayer experience with 12 new multiplayer maps along with some new fun. First off, since they play such an important role in the single player, both the English and Russian troops (with authentic dialogue) and weapons will be made available to the multiplayer games. Along with the other general new weapons like smoke grenades and sticky bombs (which sometimes not work at random so you'll have to shoot them), that brings the count to around 15 new weapons for players to get their hands on over the course of the game. Most of them are broken down into the same categories however such as machine guns, rifles, assault rifles, and so on. They each have their own personality of look and feel, but the main categories remain.

One new modes that they are working on at the moment is the new Tug of War. This nifty ditty actually gets played across several maps. They're still fixing and designing it, but it'll work something like this... say there are five maps. The game will start in the middle map. If the Allies win, the map will move to the next one along the Allies winning path. If the Axis win that second map, it will move back to the original map, which will have to be played again and determine which map it will move along to next. This keeps being played out until one of the teams finally makes it all the way to their final map and wins. It sounds like it could potentially cause some really long battles. It's an interesting idea that will be fun to see in practice.[/quote:ffbef]

There ya go.

Cheers m8.

Sticky bombs and smoke nades sound nice, but I'm not sure that's enough to make me buy it. The weapons I don't really give a s**t about, and the maps I'm sure will be made playable in MOHAA by some clever tart out there.

Guess it's wait and see time...

Nothing's perfect!

But seriously, I don't think Spearhead is looking too tasty multiplayer wise from what I've read so far - they should deffo be introducing vehicles.

Perhaps Scorpio can produce some stuff (if they rel the SDK that is)...

Default mode id like to have - 10-01-2002, 11:34 PM

one mode id like to have is such as the Conquest mode on a BIG map ... i like realism so i wanna shoot fo r the real thing

for example...

WW2 Online Bltzkreig

They run on gigantic map like structure , so that u gain and lose terrortory as u play

to me that would be 10x more intresting then the TDM right now
but TDM is fun and fine nothing wrong with it to me

These aren't the only weapons, don't forget that the Brits, french, italians, and japanese are involved in the pack as well, so you will use their weapons, too.

Yes, but at the end of the day they're just more mgs/rifles/handguns etc. I don't care how authentic they look or sound - they don't make much difference to gameplay at all for me.

Don't they mean british troops?

Typical ain't it makers of the game about WWII don't even know enough about the countries that participated.

History lesson folks, Britain is 3 countries and a province all of whom fought and died in the BRITISH army during both world wars. Just using the term English is an insult to all non-english Britons.

now back to the game. MOHAA already has a British MP character...SAS...

Exactly, but most Americans tend to think Britain = England.

It does my head in.

We have the decency to recognise the difference between Canada and the US at least.

Okay guys , please lets not get into the country thing , okay ?? Besides I'm pretty sure it's against the rules of the forum ..... Thanks.

Back on subject , from what I've read there is going to be enough new stuff in the exp. pack to make it worth the money if you really enjoy playing this game.
