Default Desert Base Rocks! - 09-30-2002, 05:47 PM

If any of you guys have not played Crizz's new Desert Base yet you are really missing out. This is the best user made map Ive played hands down. The attention to detail is amazing. I hope we can expect future maps of this quality!

Hello and thanks SoldierX!

I hope you talk of the _final or _sandstorm Version ;-)

Currently I´m creating 2 new skies for my next maps. And I will try to finish the next map at the end of October. I´m not a fan of beta versions and therefore it might last a little longer, but then you have the full product. My friends from HiFi make all the testings!

Yesterday I received the winning package from EA Germany for DesertBase_Final ranked No.1 in the MapAssault2002 Contest. So I´m highly motivated to finish more maps.

Greetings
Crizz

Sound Problems: I´ve already started a topic for Ubersound prob but nobody cared :-(

Please use only one (preferable my) user-z.pk3 file in order to hear all sounds for the map. Unfortunately some custom maps include extra Ubersound files in the .pk3 that get messed up with others.
Mostly you will not hear the alarm siren, Gate Sound or the machine sounds in the base if you have another (hidden) Ubersound in your main folder.
Sometimes even the bombticking sound is different.
To listen to all sounds as intended by a mapper, then use only his map alone - altough not the best idea :-)
If you can open .pk3 files then I suggest to use only one Ubersound file and get rid of any others found in some custom maps.
Unfortunately this is Server-Side -> so if you play on a server that has more than one modified Ubersound file then you won´t hear them again.

I actually played them both. Yeah I noticed several of the sites that I played the map on were missing some of the sounds. I can hear all the sounds fine when I try and run a server, so I know its them. I look forward to you next map!

Friggin......you say delete every other ubersound-files in the other maps......every second map has an ubersound-file in it.

If i remove those ubersound-files, what about the sounds in these maps, will they still work ??

Like the sounds in TheFarm.......pretty rare sounds used in there !!

I know it´s not the best way. But since EA/2015 has made this that complicated it seems to be the best alternative.

If a mapper includes totally new sounds then you should use his Ubersound.
The whole Ubersound thing got that messed up since most mappers directly include this modified file to the map.pk3 , sometimes without any comments in the readme (no offense against mappers, please!!)

OR you use Wombats nice tool called Uberfix 2.1! You can find this tool on http://www.planetmedalofhonor.com/mohrad -> downloads/others section. Also please check out the forum/readme for more infos.

This tool reads all your Ubersounds you have and creates a single one! Unfortunately I don´t know if it also deletes then the remaining Ubersounds automatically!?
To get rid of the resulting bombtick sound bug (engine randomly chooses between normal and radiobomb sound then) you still have to manually reset the values for the bombtick2 sound only!

The user-z.pk3 file, found in both DB maps, is created with Wombat´s Uberfix and the adjusted bombtick sound added afterwards. BTW I didn´t used a new sound or changed any parameters for the originals, only enabled a (hopefully) bugfree version for the standard sounds.

Hopefully EA/2015 adds a better way to include custom sounds with the Add-on or a dedicated scripter makes a tool for that with the SDK!
Nevertheless, if they release such a tool, I fear that you still have to delete the "hidden" Ubersounds out of all maps in order not to run in any conflict.

Greetings
