Default Post subject: PROBLEM Black texture on 3-D? - 10-01-2002, 11:05 PM

Hi I'm new to mapping (how many times do you here that?)

Ok, here's my problem, When viewing in the camera bo on the right my textures (some of them) start getting "blacked out" where you can only see the black outline, and stay that way, thay aren't blacked when I run the game, but it's really hard to build stuff this way as you can guess. what's going on, what am I doing wrong?????

I have Windows XP

Thanks in advance,
-Peter

Try using the different lighting options under "View".

Some textures also have alpha channels, these textures are see through or partially see through (for example windows). There is a button that toggles alpha view on and off in the editor. If you have it off then see through parts will be black, if it's on then see through parts will be seen as in game when looking in you editors 3D view.

Thanks for the heads up! The other post fixed my original problem, but you pointed out something that I had been wondering about. I would put a window into my map and would go into test it and it wouldn't be transparent... so this'll help!

Thanks,
Peter
