mad:

Read this:
http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2002/0930/1439447.htmlI couldn't finish reading it because it made me sick. This jerk off has nothing better to do than cry the blues about something as ridiculous as this. What more does he want? Is he looking for an entire black league? He claims he isn't doing it for money. This is as dumb as that other fool Jesse Jackson and Rev. Al Sharpton bitching about that comedy Barbershop with Ice-Cube. WTF is the big deal that there are more white coaches in the NFL than blacks, or as 'ole Johnny likes to say, minorities. I am so furious with this racist, despicable, money hungry jit rag. Johnny Cochrane, Jesses Jackson and Al Sharpton NEED to get a fu<king grip, and just go, go to the moon and stay there, or live in a fu<king submarine and stay at the bottom of the ocean, and while they're at it, they can take the entire ABC sports broadcasting team because they blow too...
Phew!
Had to get that off my chest...Does anyone else agree with me?

Just another example of the white man keeping a brother down!!......NOT!!
but thats what "black" America thinks and it's our fault they feel that way. We cater to the blacks and it's time we stop and let them fend for themselves. No more should we recruit minorities for civil service jobs, no more shall we fill job vacancies with unqualified minorities just to meet a quota, no more shall we assist illegal aliens, no more shall we practice affirmative action.
Last i saw, the playing field was level.....we have public schools, public libraries, public transportation, college scholarships for sports and academics, US military, civil service job application centers, volunteer programs, public social workers, case workers, welfare system...etc, etc.
If they can't help themselves with all those "free" services available to them, then they deserve to feel oppressed!! My tax dollars do too much for them already, i don't need to hear some racist jackassed lawyer talk about such frivolous bullshit. And don't even get me started on reparations!! My daddy never owned no slave!!

[quote:3c1c3]We cater to the blacks and it's time we stop and let them fend for themselves.[/quote:3c1c3]

The "catering" begins and ends with politically correct speech. That's it. If you think minorities are being given a "smooth" ride because of reperations and affirmative action laws, then you are a seriously confused Arkan. Racial prejudice is just as, if not more, prevelant in America today than it was in the 60's. It's just not being publicized as much as it was. 40 years ago you could get away with calling a black man a negro and openly discriminate. Now its not so easy since there has been built a layer of PC in this country to mask, and hold down public outbursts of racism. However it's still there. To think otherwise is dangerous and just speaks volumes to how blind folks have become.

Affirmative action does act as a crutch to some minorities and does bind the hands of some industries. However human beings cannot be counted on to act in fairness and without prejudice, so therefore laws have to be made to counter-act our deep seeded bigotry. That's a fact. Do you honestly believe that a nation just in the last half century all of a sudden decided to reverse its opinion on race relations and open their arms to other cultures? Hardly. As I said, polictically correctness, the taboo of certain words and expressions, and laws have made it seem we have come "SO FAR" when we have barely moved. And this is how it will stay for a LONG time to come. Laws have made this movment stagnant and seemingly unneeded.

But it's still there folks. Whether you want to believe it or not.

I respectfully disagree with you Ed. I work with minorities and they do get special treatment in certain situations and the equal "white" workers treat them as anyone else. I don't hear the guys on my job calling the minorities niggers, wetbacks, chinks, spics...or whatever. We treat them with respect.
I came from a broken family in a racially mixed neighborhood so i know 1st hand what all this shit is about. I went to the same public schools as the minorities and was given no special treatment because i happened to be white. I had black friends and had them over my house for dinner. They were treated as regular people, not kins of slaves. As a matter of fact, the people who really deserve reperations aren't the blacks......it's the Jews. I know of no "living" minority who was a slave but there are plenty of surviving Jews from the holicaust. This society is so bent on making everything right. I say, let the chips fall where they may. We all should be given equal treatment and an equal shot at getting that job. If you can't score high on the test for a job, you don't get it.......simple as that. If i were a fireman, i wouldn't want some idiot next to me who couldn't read a map just as much as i wouldn't want a female who couldn't drag me to safety next to me either. If the person is properly qualified, give them the job regardless of sex or race.....thats my point. Lets not cater.
Another thing, my roots go back to the late 1800's in this country......my ancestors immigrated to this country LEGALLY from Austria and Italy. They learned the language and paid their taxes. Hell, wanna talk about slavery?, most of NY was built on hard cheap labor by Italian immigrants. You don't see them crying about it do you? They paid their dues.
America is a "free" country with equal opportunities.....lets just stick to that, shall we??

bigzooka:

Arkan: I couldnt have said it better.

If they cant handle how they are being treated than they can leave. Its a free country.
We have given blacks our blood and guts and now they still say its not enough.
They want more of this and that//// more points for this test and that test , promotions...they want them too without having to earn it, all because of their skin color.
I too work with different minorities every day. I treat them the same as all others. Nothing special because they are black or white.
If I dislike them , its not because of color, its because they brought it upon themselves at one time or another, no other reason.
I wish they would appreciate what they have and quit bitching already.
Lets not forget the temperatures in Africa right about now. I know Id rather live in the U.S.

Well I'd like to live in the world you folks live in. Sadly I dont.

You want me to admit that race relations are at a point where affimative action laws can be retracked and Americans are treated as equal Americans? - No chance. Because sad to say, that AINT the world we live in. It just isn't.

You talk about minorities working freely around you? That's great. You talk about noone making overt racial comments. Awesome. Now tell me there's no policy about harrasment or racially deragatory behavior, and I'll applaud your workplace for being able to police itself. However I do not see it here, nor there.

There is discrimination and that's the bottom line. Some of the laws that are used to police this result in reverse discrimination and that is unfortunate. However the world we live in today WOULD NOT survive if these laws were not in place. Or do you really think 1960 was such a rosy everyone love thier brother place.

And the insistance that if someone doesn't like it to get out - are you out of your mind? A black man doesn't like being racially profiled, or being passed over for a job because of his race, and he should just move on out of the country. What a fabulous joke. Ha ha. It is to laugh.

Equal oppurtunity has no bearing here. Because YOU treat someone the same, or YOU dont have any overt racial bigotry, does not mean the problem isn't there, and isn't big.

He never said it was not there. But if you our a fellow black man was passed over for promotion by skin color alone, and not the fact you our them are just a plain idiot.then sue we are the country, of sue happy people.Bring a tape recorder and get this evidence.Of course there is discrimination but most people say it is the white male . Not blacks any more. But of course you will disagree.its all whiteys fault them bastards

You're right, racial overtones do exist but i see more from blacks than whites.
How come a black man can walk through my neighborhood at night unscathed but a white man can't make it through Bedford Stuyvesant in the middle of the day ?!

Keep on showeing your ignorance Founding.

Do you mean to tell me that MOST cases of discrimination against against minorities are bogus simply because the minority isnt GOOD enough for the job?

Nice.

A friend I knew worked for the American Diabetes Association. He was the only male in the office other than management (of which there were 2), and the only black in the office. He was there 3 days. On the third day, his supervisor left early, and he was told by a co-worker who was immediately above him that he would be the only one left in the office, and that as soon as he finished his work he could leave. He finished his work and he left early.

On monday he got to work and noticed that folks were acting strange around him, whispering things. One thing he overheard was "...yup, I talked to the secretary and she said he did".

He finshed the day. He got home, and found a message on his phone telling him he had been fire for a timecard discrepancy. He had turned in his timecard that was signed by his supervisor before the end of the day, and BEFORE he left early.

Fired. Like that. Without an oppurtunity to explain what happened, without the ability let them know there were other circumstances. Nowhere did anyone mention that he was told he could leave early (again this is AFTER his supervisor leaves and his card has been signed).

2 months later that particularly office was shut down, and he saw two of the women he worked with (one of them also who was the whisperer and the one who told him he could go home early) in the EDD office looking for an appeal on their unemployment being denied. He was of course on the other side of the door assisting clients.

Then why didnt this so callled friend get a lawyer. It is his side of the story and thats it.he could have did something he left out, so his story would seem racist.I have been turned down for jobs from hair.Is that not raceism. If any thing black's are some times hired because people are afraid they will be called a racist.Even if the the guy is not qualified for the job.Thats how it is for real.
