Check out the new dilator <-spelling? thread Yoch. is working on a new realism.

You may want to check his out when it's released soon I believe.

Long time no here red, Hi.
Delator oOo:

Anyways, I've begged Chicken to tune the SMG, as it's basically a sniper-SMG. We'll see what happens though.

In the meantime, use the http://www.mohadmin.com reliable server page.[/quote:c605c]

You must not have tried the SMG's lately. Funny because I remember someone saying how they weren't good for much anymore. Now the complaint is that the sniper rifles are unbalanced... guess I just don't know what I'm doing. eek: hake: oOo:

Well it's time for me to kick in my 2 cents since Druid and I both have equal weapons mods on the MOB servers. First of all I created a balanced weapons mod a year ago because I was sick of getting on servers where people were constantly bitching about so and so having an advantage. I DO NOT advertise this as a realism mod but equal weapons. It allows, as Druid so eloquently put it people to rely on skill, and lets them pick the weapon they want knowing that they have an equal chance at the kill no matter what weapon they face.
As for the rifles, some of you big talkers need to come on our server and lets see what you score using the rifle. I consider myself to be an above average player and still find using the rifle a challenge, even with the rapid fire. I have played against many a player and I will tell you that there are VERY few players who can come on MOB's server and make a top score with the rifle.
The sniper rifle issue I am still working on and expect other tweaks to make it better.

Bottom line, most people who say the mod sucks are just not ready to face the reality that all things being equal, there are people out there who are better than they are.

I agree. While in my case, when I got sick of the complaining about the weapons, I figured I'd make a REAL realism mod - using historical data. You can't argue about weapons having more advantage if they're modeled after the original design of said weapon (well, you could... but I stopped listening). In terms of all those peeps who say it doesn't take any skill to play on a server with such a mod, then maybe you need to look at it from another point of view - it's not skill in getting kills, but in staying alive. Afterall, isn't that the basis of what ACTUAL soldiers were doing in ACTUAL war conditions?

And Druid, you're right. Can't make everyone happy, so I stopped trying. Not to say my mod is complete (reason why I haven't released it yet) as it's a constant work in progress. But when Red started this thread I thought "more power to him" cause he knows what he wants. Last night he said to me his quest was over and that his own clan's server has the best realism, and I congratulated him on finding what he likes best. My mod's not for everyone, as the MOB guys have been saying all along. But when I say realism, I'm not kidding around.

BTW, my first public release for this mod hopefully will be this weekend and I'm including a modified version of CK's realism spreadsheet so you all can see the difference in weapons. I'm also including a comparison of all the weapons in this mod to other weapons of the same class. It's not about fairness, it's about realism.

A realistic realism is a nice little historical exercise, but it screws up gameplay too much. You end up getting people that will not change teams under any circumstances because they wont put down their stg or M1. And when it comes down to it, this is game is popular because of the game play, not because of its historical accuracy. I respect what you are trying to do, but its just not my cup of tea.

Well, not to brag, but I am one of the few players who can come on the MOB servers and get top score with the rifle. I don't do it anymore, simply because I do not like the balanced weapons mod. I think the different types of weapons were put there for a reason. In my opinion rifles have been "Noobified" on the MOB servers, ie no bolt action. It is much easier to kill people with 10 rapid shots than with a bolt action rifle, so whovever said it was harder with 10 shots is on crack.

Server #2 is usually mine with the rifle. There are a couple of people that can hang with me or beat me - deception, trapt and some of MOB, but not too many. The bolt action style rifle is tougher, but you just need to adjust how you play. I dont have enough patience to squat behind a rock waiting for the next shot. I like to keep moving. Rapid fire rifles = good for me. Otherwise I would have to always play allies.

I don't think anyone said it wasn't easier to kill with a 10 shot rifle compared to the bolt action. It had more to do with rifles taking more skill compared to an MG. Quick aim is much more important with a rifle than it is with any other weapon. I tried for a long time to get really good with a rifle. I improved a lot and it helped my overall game but I never got close to being as good as some people are with a rifle.

The only reason I use the term "realism" in the server name is to separate it from stock servers. The weapons may not have realistic individual settings but the damage done is more in-line with a realism server compared to a stock one.

I frequent 5 different servers. Each one runs a different realism mod and I enjoy playing on them all.

OK one last commment from FK..... lol. The raeson for changing the Axis rifle to rapid fire was in keeping with the spirit of EQUAL WEAPONS. The M1 IS rapid fire which meant that almost everone who plays the game and likes using the rifle would go to Allies. All I did was make them the SAME. I agree with the fact that the rifle should be real powerful and have some delay but I do not agree with the fact that one sides rifle should be different. That is not a historical perspective but a game play one.

As for the weapons usage I am very satisfied with how the mod turned out. Go on 90 percent of the servers and see what weapons people use. There are certain weapons that rule and every Axis will use the same thing, every Ally the same weapon. Go to MOB and you will hear every weapons sound, meaning people are using all the guns in the game. That was all I was trying to accomplish.

FK - leave it just like it is. The server is full everytime I see it. That is not an accident.
