Fighting is a part of Hockey. They even have special guys mastering the art of punching the shit out of the other guy. They have penalties for fighting so it's part of the game. The fan base loves the fighting and everything else that goes along with it so it's accepted.

How untrue!!! When you have an elete (sp?) class of players they command the top salary. The Wings have the most talented team on the ice. This does not guarentee the Stanley Cup but its a good start. The high salary started with Pete Carmonos (sp?) wiht the Huricanes when he offered Federov that huge contract knowing the Wings would match it.

payroll smayroll, look at what the carolina hurricanes did last year. who do they have on thier payroll? rod brind'amour, arturs irbe, and i cant really think of anyone else off hand and yet they made to the stanley cup finals last year. albeit they used that boring center trap defense similiar to the left wing lock. im from michigan so i dont have to say what team i like.
