when i was a kid i put a 750cc motorcycle engine on a go cart. it was pretty badass. had to reinforce the frame because of the extra weight. weilded a shift rod along side the cart . i have no idea how fast it would actually go. at around 60 mph it started to shudder pretty bad so i had to back off. i reduced the size of the sproket on the back wheel so it had a pretty wild hole shot. had to create small wheelie bars on the back and weight the front just to keep the wheels on the ground. spent a lot of money replacing tires. this thing would burn a set of tires up in a flash.

Nope, I'm almost positive they arn't, see em all the time. That motor won't drive you, there's a huge difference between a motor made to spin a 6 once plastic blade 250 mph, and a engine made to crank a fly wheel hard enough to power the scooter with a 160+ man on top of it. If you can get this to work especially with little experience that would be awsome.

Got an idea from a friend: Mount the engine above the wheel, with a bigger wheel directly connected to the engine, right off the the side of the rear wheel. IE, a third wheel, to drive. Probably a pnuematic or solid rubber one, bigger than the others... wonder how that would work? ed:
