I'm personally a fan of athlon processors simply because I do alot of 3D cad modeling for school and work (architecture mostly) but i would venture to say that both of those processors would suit you fine. As far as the ram goes... it depends on what type... 2100, 2700, 3200 etc...??

2100 DDR - I would get a gig if you can afford it... anything about 2100... 512MB will do just fine

On a side note, ive always found its best to operate ram in pairs...

get 2 x 256 mb's instead of 1x512...
