For some WWII trivia on the Carbine, just to let you guys know, that the Carbine was a great compromise between a pistol and a rifle...
The 101st Airborne mainly used the folding stock carbine along side their primary firearm. It would go in a little holster/cloth scabbard tied on their left or right leg...(Depending on where their hunting knife was)....
If they were engineers, who had the anti-tank mines on their leg, then they would not carry the carbine...
Mostly high ranking NCO/CO's would have one.
The only real difference between the folding stock Carbine, and the regular M1 Carbine is that of course, the folding stock would have a railed metal fold stock, and would have the hand guard etc.
