Default Making PreFabs in Radient, the makings of a breakdown... - 09-27-2004, 09:10 PM

I've made a couple prefabs of vehicles for my map using radient (being i have no knowledge of MilkShape) and saved them in my prefab folder. Now whenever i try to load them while using Radient into the map i'm working on, the prefab appears in the map, Radient lets me move it a little and then i get a shutdown or the prefab doesn't load at all.

The prefab that shuts it down is made of about 177 brushes and i have it stored in a folder in my documents for easy search.

any ideas or suggestions on (1st) what could be wrong and (2nd) another way to get all these textured brushes into the map ? (puting it into a seperate map, creating a brush around the whole vehicle and then selecting inside brush, copying and pasting shuts down Radient the same way)

is it possible to change this group of textures into a static model or a model without using MilkShape ?

seems i'm having all kinds of problems with this program (Radient) .

To begin with that program is a peice of shit. Although I love mapping with it, it encounters erroneous errors constantly if you dont have it set up right. You need, and I can't stress this enough, NEED a clean copy of MOHAA and you NEED to not put mods in your main folder and you NEED to not modify the game in anyway. Just use what pk3s u are using to modify or create with. Also you cant just weild around a brush model in radiant like it was some slut at a stag party. Anything complex brushed needs to be moved slowly and no rotating or fucking with it too much. Radiant has an error because it cant pinpoint points in space fast enough and crashes. But most of the time its just some dumb ass mod that does it. ANd spearhead or breakthrough.

i figured it couldn't handle the move around too much part. also figured it wasn't just myself having all those crash and error problems with Radient.

Cobra, could you define what you mean by
  • clean copy-unless you were extending the no mod pk3 files in the main
    radient set up perfectly

Annoying...yes.
Best way to deal with this is to filter as many things as you can
VIEW/ FILTER
filter the likes of Terrain / patches /details/ lights/ static models etc then try to load your prefab cos as has been said radiant doesnt like to concentrate on too many things happening on your grid at once.
Also if when you load your prefab try not to have to use Free rotation as that realy screws it up.
If its just facing the wrong way try using the zn axis rotate other than trying to physicaly turning it with free rotation.
Seere.
