It's tough to recommend a system spec without knowing your budget Raymond.

Whatever your budget, you can never go wrong with this system :

Thunderbird or Coppermine
Appropriate Motherboard with FSB266
512 megs of RAM PC-133 (hell, go for more if you can)
Cambridge sound system (surround sound)
DTI Virtual Window holographic monitor
Geforce 3 (OR GF2 Ultra DDR 64megs)
70 Gig HDD

And when you get RAM make sure it's got CAS Latency 2, not any higher, it's much faster.
And also a GF2 Ultra is almost as expensive as an GF3. So you'd be better of going for the GF3. And actually with the CPU wait a while and get an AMD Athlon Palamino (sweeeeeeeeeeeet !!!!!)

Looks good, I agree you need more RAM too; I have no idea why you would want a cd-rom, a dvd and a cd writer though?

Pentium 4's use Rambus RAM only, correct? Much more expensive for 128MB...I think 150-160 dollars.

Rambus ram is supported (preferred), but not REQUIRED by the new P4 systems : the old ones only accepted Rambus

It'll work much better I agree, but isn't the only type of ram you can have in that particular system.. even then, it's not as pricy as it was
