yeah i dont think it really has anything to do with that either, its pretty easy to make it switch directions in your head if you focus on the planted foot and think of it as expanding to the left and right instead of rotating.

OK so I was wrong. Watching the image long enough, I could get the foot to spin the opposite direction to the top half!
