Yeah, i've been following this game for a few months now.
It could potentially turn out to be an AMAZING game, it could however also turn out to be shitty.
Its basically an RPG with guns. you can go anywhere in the map looking for objects and shit. You can team up with other stalkers to looks for stuff, you can trade equipment and buy shit. You can sell the stuff you find. All the NPC's have a rotation they follow. They sleep and do certain things. The animals hunt and kill each other, the human Npc will find cover and use it to their advantage.
This game could be awesome. Hopefully it will be.

I can just see it now.... i got my shovel, digging through the ashes and then all of a sudden i hear a gunshot and see a guard falling off his post...then the alarm rangs out, they see a black guy with a shovel looking "suspicious" and all run towards me with weapons drawn. Well if nothing else, atleast the AI, they have down to a tee
Game looks tight' though. Still reading the overview & features

I BET you will ALL be playing this game when its out. I too have been keeping an eye on it for ages now (in fact I think Gerv posted the 1st topic on it a year or so back, saying how good it looked)
Check out some videos of it, multiplayer could be wicked fun with its HUGE maps. I'll defo be buying it, that site is nicely designed too...
"S.T.A.L.K.E.R. delayed until May 2005 - 29/10/2004
GSC Game World would like to officially announce that the release of their highly anticipated first-person/survival game, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:Shadow of Chernobyl, will be delayed to allow more time to polish the code."
Lil longer left to go now, I think this game has got the potential to be one of the best FPS's in years, mark my wordzzzzzzzzzzz dance:

Real day and night cycles, vehicles, weird creatures and weather effects, this was always #2 after HL2 for me. *wees himself*

The world of the Zone is a huge derelict territory of half-ruined buildings unruffled for 20 years, woodlands and anomalous greenery. The Zone world features neglected underground and ground laboratories, dead military bases and proving grounds for new technologies. Radioactive land is covered with ulcers of scorched earth, poisonous fogs, deadly gravitational anomalies. This is the world of a disastrous industrial and ecological catastrophe. And in the hub of this man-caused hell the wreckage of Chernobyl atomic facility rests.
We create the Zone based on reconstruction of Chernobyl atomic power plant and the 30-kilometer zone around it. Players, while progressing through the game, will see the Dead Forest, cities of Pripyat' and Chernobyl, sneak inside the Chernobyl atomic facility sarcophagus, go through the memorable areas, really existing in the epicentre of the tragedy to have occurred some 16 years ago.
We do our best to reproduce the atmosphere of industrial and ecological catastrophe of Chernobyl in detail, so, undeniably, all the zone sights will be easily recognizable. Photos and video materials acquired during our trip to Chernobyl provide ample of information to meet this very purpose, ensuring the textures and architecture are of utmost realism.
