i think most alarms have an option where you can turn off the beep. you may have done that inadvertently. not sure how to turn it back on though.

Something has gone, factory Jeep Alrams = notorious for problems such as that. I have heard about them going out after a single off roading trip. It could be many issues.....fuse as newt said, loose wire, broken peice... so many really.... A decent mechanic will fix this problem for 30 bucks. OR any audio(car) shop around town.

Well...all i can say is that the distance between my grand am and myself to hear the horn and lock the bitch has been downsized considerably...and the Escape has it so the horn only works sometime when the door is locked but i don't care cuz that one is way too loud...plus we have an explorer instead of it now.

my dads got a 05 grand cherokee and there is an option in the console that lets there be a "chirp" or no "chirp".

My mom's got a '04 Jeep Liberty. Incredible thing, we went off-roading (well, my dad did without my moms permission) by a rocky field by the highway...smooth ride.

The Jeep Commander looks like a PoS.

their is probably a seperate horn just for the alarm. Try to find it under the hood/bumper and put 12v to it and see if it still works.

Does the alarm actually work though? It might not chirp but does the alarm go off? My mum had her alarm on her car disabled due to it being faulty and having it fixed 23235363 times. The beeper doesnt sound now when you unlock the car.

I have an 01 XJ Sport, I frequent these boards http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=11

You probably just disabled the beep and you don't even know it.

[quote:4fbcc]Press and hold the lock button down for 5 seconds.

Then while holding the lock button press the un-lock button.

You should hear a chirp.[/quote:4fbcc]

That should prolly do it, this was the response given for the same problem to a dude with a 99 sport.
