latest news letter has an interesting screenshot -
06-02-2007, 06:28 AM
- for classic MOH fans? OK this looks interesting!
The latest EA/MOH news letter is entitled, "Exclusive Screenshot for Classic MOH Fans!". Which is interesting after you see the accompanying screenshot.
New screen shot click here[/url:62485]
Is it me or does that image look familiar minus the high res textures and C-47 high above? All we have so far is that the file is entitled recognition. There is no meta data I can find within the file, nor any other info in the email.
Old screen shot clickhere[/url:62485]
To me it looks a lot like a classic MOH:Allied Assault map called destroyed village. No word if this is a concept map, single play or (please god) a multi player map. I'm trying to dig up some old screen shots I have to compare but damn if memory serves me, it looks close.

OK, I found an old image, which is from May and also has an airplane in the shot, granted different. - very interesting!
Funny how EA sends us this stuff on a Friday so we have to wait until Monday to get some answers.
The rest of the news letter contains a small image of the guys at the latest community summit.

Everything looks like static meshes except for that building in he far back left, might be BSP brushes. Mapping is going to be challenging for people, at least for ones who want high performance with static meshes.

Huh? How does that screenshot imply any of those buildings are static meshes?

The fine detail on the destroyed walls (front right side) has fragments sticking out, would be an insane amount of work to do and a resource hog when lighting. Ergo, that whole structure is a static mesh.
The building on the front left... first floor wall is a BSP brush as well as the second level floor. The second floor walls are static meshes because of the complex design.
The building on the far back left... could be entirely BSP brushes since it's simple... but the railing and support columns are more than likely static mesh.
The church... the walls might be BSP brushes but I doubt it. I say the entire thing is a static mesh. Easiest and fastest way to do it is in Maya.
Ergo, I believe 90% of the stuff in the screen shot is a static mesh aside from the backdrop and terrain.

is this game just a updated version of MOHAA? or is it just all the screenshots they are releasing from old maps?

Judging by MoH:V it'll probably just be a refurbished and polished up MOH:AA with some new features. But a really good polish nonetheless.
Is that destroyed village map MP for MOHA or a SP map?

How exactly do you come to that conclusion? By all accounts with the exception of the ww2 environment and a 2 screens of a mp map airborne looks nothing like allied assault. The gameplay looks like being totally different with the option to start levels at various positions. Infact airborne looks like no other fps ive ever played mainly because of the way you can start a level from a load of different locations. Not even the locations of the maps are the same as allied assault.
If anything the game sounds more like what pacific assault was initially promising with the not being stuck to predetermined paths gameplay dynamic.
