Computer+lightning -

If your computer is hit by lightning what is probably the fix for it? A friend of mine has changed out the power supply already and it boots up but shows nothing on the screen, Is there any hope for the comp? Does he need a new motherboard and cpu? Any replies are appreciated.

Oh, that makes a little more sense. I thought you meant he was walking with it and it got struck or something. oOo:
Anyway, I'm not a computer genious, but any kind of electricity is not good for your computer.
A friend and I were working on my computer once in my room and there was carpet on the floor which created static electricity which burnt my motherboard out. I had to buy a whole new one. Kinda shitty. So if your friends computer got zapped with 1.21 jiggawatts (heh, back to the future) I bet there is a lot of stuff wrong inside there. I wouldn't be suprised if the motherboard/cup was toast.
Take it in and get it looked at. The professionals will tell you what you need to replace, if not the entire unit.

Well first things...open up the computer...if you can't notice any damage, go to best buy or someplace like that

That is the reason I'm asking here, trying to save him some money. They want to charge him a arm and a leg just to look at it.
